Calzone Yum Pizza Pockets Recipe at Home

Calzone Pockets is a savory dish of Italian origin, consisting of a usually round, flattened, folded in semi- circle, base of leavened wheat-based dough topped with tomatoes, cheese, and often various other ingredients (anchovies, olives, meat, etc.) baked at a high temperature, traditionally in a wood-fired oven.

After many trials I made the dough at home, with red sauce and seasoning . You can use the pizza dough as base with topping of your choice.

Ingredients for Pockets :

1. Mixed herbs
2. Capsicum & Coriander, onion (optional)
3. Salted Butter
4. Grated Garlic
5. Oregano
6. Mixed Herbs
7. Mozzarella/Amul cheese
8. Fresh basil leaves chopped (optional)
9. Pizza Base

Preparation of Pockets :

1. Fold in 2 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour to 1 1/2 tsp of activated yeast water.
Activate Yeast Recipe

With the help of wire whisk/food processor, beat this mixture, or beat it with a spatula/spoon initially, followed by your hands. Make sure there is no lumps.

You can add pressed/crushed garlic, mixed herbs and coriander to the dough. Cover it for 60 mins at rest. For perfect dough recipe, follow Dough for Baking . OR , buy pizza base from market.

2. In one bowl, beat 3-4 tbsp of salted butter, 3 tbsp of grated garlic, 1/2 tbsp oregano, 1/2 tbsp fresh basil and mixed herbs or use 1 tbsp of (My Pizza Seasoning Recipe).

In other bowl, keep finely chopped capsicum and coriander leaves.

* Liquify the butter in a bowl by warming it.

3. Roll the dough or use My Pizza Dough Recipe... spread my butter mix on the flatbread and sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese on one half side#. Then put coriander and capsicum. You can even sprinkle some black pepper powder and ajinomoto (optional).
* Ajinomoto enhances flavour but is hazardous to health.

4. # Make gentle cuts on the other  side . Fold and seal edges with water. Brush the pan with oil. Place the pockets on oil.

5. Preheat and then Bake.. 180 degrees for 15-17 mins. Check that it don't burn.

If you dont have an oven, add salt in a pan with height, level the salt, place metal stands on the salt bed. Now, place the pizza in the pan and cover the pan and cook. Flip over other side and cook, until it's done. Vegetable topping will become partially soft but crunchy. So, you can previously boil the vegetables and other toppings. Check the toppings from Delish Homestyle-Pizza
