Beaten Dalgona/ Frappe Coffee |
Dalgona Coffee (Korean coffee) was coined by South Korean actor Jung Il-woo. I have learned since that it’s been around for years and is also known as Frappe Coffee (Greek), Beaten Coffee (Indian) and is known in several other cultures. It is in trend now-a-days. Many people told me that without an electric beater it can not be made, or the recipe is not properly described. So I tried it for myself without beater.
Whipped coffee is made up of only 3 ingredients! To make whipped coffee, add 2 tablespoons of instant coffee, 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of hot water to a clean dry bowl. Using an electric beater, you can whisk/whip it together, within 2 minutes to 5 minutes, its ready.

To keep your whipped coffee vegan, use any vegan milk (such as almond milk, soy milk, oat milk, cashew milk or any other. I used cow milk (chilled).
Ingredients :
2. 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
3. 2 tablespoons boiling water
4. a pinch of cinnamon/chocolate shavings (optional)
5. 1 cup milk of choice I've tried it with soy milk, almond and oat milk

Preparation :
1. To make whipped coffee, add 2 tablespoons of instant coffee, 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of boiling water to a clean bowl. Always take 1:1:1 ratio of 3 ingredients, i.e equal amounts of coffee, sugar and water. Whisk it for 10-15 mins. The colour will gradually change from black liquid to light brown coffee mixture. The texture will be fluffy and creamy.

* I tested the recipe without sugar for diabetic patients. While it does fluff up in the same amount of time, it doesn’t stay fluffy as long as the sugar version. The sugar version stays fluffy for several hours. But this stays as fluffy for about 2 minutes, in another 5 minutes it’s liquid again. So keep that in mind for the unsweetened version, consume immediately.

2. Put some ice in a a glass. Pour 1 cup of chilled Cow's milk on this. * Don't forget to whisk and froth the milk. Scoop some whipped coffee, and top it with a spoon, then stir it slowly once into the milk.
Enjoy!
Whipped coffee can last for days in your fridge. You can use warm milk instead of cold milk. I personally liked the chilled version.

* The key is to do back and forth/side-to-side whisking in a zig zag motion, instead of only in large circles. This will incorporate more air in the coffee, making it fluffy.
